To me, reality isn’t fixed — it’s always shifting, layered, and deeply personal. I am fascinated by the complexity of identity and perception, especially from a female perspective.
I see every woman as having multiple selves — overlapping, shifting, sometimes revealed, sometimes concealed. My work does not seek to capture a definitive image or a stable reality.
My work
My compositions often challenge logical interpretation. Emotions drive everything I create, either drawn from personal experience or from the subtle gestures and contradictions of others. I aim to invite the viewer to respond emotionally and intuitively, rather than rationally. I hope that my work encourages reflection and personal resonance.
Technique
I combine a variety of methods, intentionally bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary experimentation. Beginning with photography and hand-drawn sketches, I open an artistic dialogue with artificial intelligence (AI). Rather than allowing AI to dictate the outcome, I use it as a tool to introduce new layers of complexity and unpredictability into my work. This interest in layering and technique also led me to Toyobo photopolymer etching, used in my most recent series.
Inspration
My artistic approach draws inspiration from Cubism and Surrealism. From Picasso and Braque, I learned to view form as inherently fragmented – something that can be broken apart and reconstructed in multiple ways, allowing for a multitude of perspectives. Surrealism inspires me to embrace ambiguity, to construct images that hover between figuration and abstraction. These influences, combined with my process-driven approach, allow me to construct images that are as layered and fragmented as the realities they reflect.
Presentation
The choice of my printing materials are a carefull part of my process. Often I select Japanese Awagami Bamboo Fine Art Paper, for its subtle texture, which I feel amplifies the contemplative nature of my images.
My presentation style is intentionally minimal, allowing paper and form to occupy full attention. Frames are often floating, gently suggesting vulnerability, underscoring my conviction that the message and medium must always complement each other harmoniously.
About me
My life mirrors the contrasts and transformations that I explore in my art. After two decades spent in the corporate world, I chose to follow my passion for photography and fine art, graduating from the Fotoacademie Amsterdam in December 2023.
My background influences my intuitive exploration of identity, perception, and emotion. Through my work I wish to invite my audience not just to look, but to reflect and feel.
